HP seeks further costs cuts ahead of EDS acquisition

Hewlett-Packard Co. is close to wrapping up its pending acquisition of Electronics Data Systems Inc., which while expected to boost sales, would initially drain a substantial amount of the company's cash and post integration challenges. To boost profit margins and maintain a keen competitive edge, HP says it will continue to squeeze costs out of its business.
